Lloyd Choi Gallery represents innovative Korean artists who work with traditional material and process to create contemporary works of art. The gallery believes in the power of art to enlighten, a concept rooted firmly in Korean tradition. The thorough knowledge of materials, the masterful skill and meditative processes create an alchemic reaction that moves beyond the boundaries of craft, design and fine art. Specialising in Korean contemporary studio ceramics, the gallery promotes artists whose contemporary works echo the traditional values best described by Bernard Leach, in his ‘A Potter’s Book’, “nobility, austerity, strength, breadth, subtlety, warmth qualities which apply equally to our judgments of human and ceramic values.”
The gallery is founded by Lloyd Choi, a former international designer with over 15 years of experience in the world of art and design. Over the past seven years, Choi has curated the exhibition stand at Collect on behalf of the Korean governmental organisation Korea Craft and Design Foundation (KCDF).
Lloyd Choi Gallery is a dedicated platform for Korean artists, promoting the finest Korean contemporary art and studio ceramic at an international level. With its roots in South Korea, the gallery focuses on exhibiting at international art fairs, curating pop-up exhibitions and events in the major cities around the world.
